The Ph.D. student, Ing. arch. Alžběta Vachelová, has won an award for an extraordinary student deed. Alžběta is the founder of the “Enter Someone’s Life” project in which students can register as bone marrow donors.
The first campaign aiming at the recruitment of students to the Czech National Bone Marrow Donor Registry was launched at our Faculty in 2015. Later on, she gradually involved seven other universities in the Czech Republic in the recruitment. Bone marrow donation is vital for patients with serious blood diseases, mostly leukemia.
Thanks to her initiative, nearly three thousand new donors have been added to the registries.
Responsible: prof. Ing. arch. Ing. Zuzana Pešková, Ph.D.
